Looking to buy from one of these companies and i was originally going towards RIDGID, but have heard mixed about them. I havent heard anything bad about makita or dewalt, so i was wondering which is better for a cordless 18v lithium ion company. Would buy drill/driver, impact driver, light, sawzall. Both have their strong points and areas where they come up short. People who swear by one brand or another generally place more value in the strong points about their favorite tool. A tool is something that you form a partnership with, and is too important to purchase based on what I or anyone else feels about it.
Go to a store that sells both, and try them out if they will let you. Compare weight, balance points, etc. How comfortable is that tool in your hand? Can you use it all day long? Does it just plain feel right? Is one louder than the other? How is the vibration?
Both DeWalt and Makita make good tools. I have owned both, and would buy either one again.
